At Universities in Madrid, there are normally two lecture shifts one in the morning, from 8:00 a.m to 2:00p.m and afternoon/evening classes from 4:00pm to 9:00 p.m.

Normally you get the option to choose between one of them. Once in a while you can attend a classes in the another shift when, for example, you prefer a certain teacher.

Unlike the education system in most northern European countries you will have to take lots of notes and are told to supplement them with extra reading from a certain bibliography, which will be provided to you, even though some teachers are happy with their own notes.
