Madrileños, like all Spaniards in general, don't stay in the same place for the whole night, they prefer to change all the time, from one to the other.
Santa Ana and Huertas
Between Puerta del Sol and Plaza de Santa Ana, especially in a street called Calle Huertas, you will meet a lots of people.
This part of town is ideal especially when you move around without having a car, as the many taverns, theater-cafés, pubs and fashionable bars here are pretty close one to each other, and you manage very well by foot.
Alonso Martinez and Bilbao
Are the names of two subway-stations, both of them in the heart of very lively areas. From the first one, try the locals around Plaza de Santa Barbara. Close to the other one you will find, apart from others, Madrid's most famous club, called Pacha.
Argüelles and Moncloa - Ciudad Universitaria
Two more metro stations, if you are not a student you may enjoy the atmosphere of Madrid's university neighborhood.
In winter: Traditional Cafés
There are a large amount for you as a student to visit, lots of them are decorated in a classic style called funnily enough in French: La "Belle Époque", and when there´s a cold breeze blowing outside you may want to check out if there are ant artists and writers meeting in these bars like in one of the most famous places called Café Gijon.
